Hi, I’m Eliza Ari, a visual artist based in Istanbul.
Working across photography, video, textiles, and embroidery, I create soft, almost fairy-tale-like visual worlds where everyday life reveals its quiet magic.
Every work begins with a response — something that resonates deeply with me. It might be a city, a family story, a myth, or an unnoticed detail of everyday life. What matters is the personal connection that forms between me and the image. From that experience, stories gradually emerge, where personal experience becomes a meeting point between my inner world and the viewer.
My work has been presented in exhibitions in New York, Istanbul, Tokyo, and Saint Petersburg.
I was born in 1991 in Ufa, near the Ural Mountains, and grew up in the small Siberian town of Nyagan. I graduated from Bashkir State University with a degree in Law in 2015 and completed the online Master of Photography Arts program at the Institute of Visual Arts (Russia) in 2024.
